Q: Who was the first woman of CHamoru descent to become a Governor's wife?
A: Maria Anderson Tudela, who married Governor Francisco Moscoso in 1870.

Some time after Governor Moscoso's term, on  September 7, 1871, they left to the Philippines aboard the mail ship Maria del Rosario (Levesque, 2004:474) . Maria's sister Ana also accompanied them; however, it is currently unknown as to what ever happened to them afterwards or if they ever returned back to Guam. Maria and *Ana, are the daughters of Josefa Engracia de la Cruz Anderson (daughter of Josefa de la Cruz and John Anderson).

*Ana is the half-sister of Maria and believed to be the biological daughter of Governor Moscoso and Josefa Engracia de la Cruz Anderson.
